NATURAL WONDERS TOUR

DAY 2: Hike in the Parque Nacional de Guadarrama y la Pedriza de Manzanares and dinner in Toledo (1 night in Toledo).
DAY 3: In the morning, we’ll leave Toledo for Granada, Andalusia with a stop in Monachil for an introduction to the Sierra Nevada National Park which contains some of the highest peaks on the Iberian Peninsula and is a place of exceptional scenic beauty. It’s an area that’s been shaped by its glacial origins and contains a wealth of forests and diverse areas of natural vegetation. In the afternoon, we’ll continue to the Dilar River Gorge (Garganta de Dilar) and spend the night in pueblo of Lanjaron, Hotel Alcadima (1 night Lanjaron).
DAY 4: In the morning, we’ll hike in the Poqueira Valley with unforgettable vistas of Mulhacen (at 3483 meters, it’s the highest peak in mainland Spain) and pass through the pueblo of Capileira, continuing towards Granada where we will enjoy a private tour of Albaysin, the city’s old Moorish quarter. This will be followed by a traditional dinner at a famous gypsy cave with an unforgettable Flamenco show and a tasting of Jamon de Trevelez and Tortilla de Patatas along with Tinto de Verano (1 night in Granada).
DAY 5: Depart from Granada and travel to Malaga to catch a flight to Tenerife. Upon arrival, we’ll tour the the Parque Natural de Anaga and spend the first night in Puerto de la Cruz (1st night in Puerto de la Cruz).
DAY 6: Visit the Teide National Park in Tenerife, an imposing volcano that towers at 3,718 meters above sea level, and one of the world’s most spectacular geological monuments (2nd night in Puerto de la Cruz).
DAY 7: Depart from Tenerife and fly to Lanzarote to explore Parque Nacional de Timanfaya & Parque Natural los Volcanes. The volcanoes, craters and solidified lava that characterize these parks will make you think you have just landed on the moon. A truly unforgettable experience along with a camel ride (1 night in Arrecife).
DAY 8: In the morning, visit Arrecife and the surrounding area (Jameos del Agua, Jardín de cactus, and Mirador del Río). In the evening, we’ll fly to Santander and then drive towards a cozy bed and breakfast hotel with excellent home-cooking in the pueblo of Panes (1st night in Panes).
DAY 9: Visit the Picos de Europa Nacional Parque. This is the oldest national park in Spain located just 20 kilometers away from the Atlantic Coast. It will take your breath away with its forests, oak groves, heathlands and famous Covadonga Lakes. The first day we’ll concentrate on hiking around Teleférico de Fuente Dé & Puertos de Áliva (2nd night in Panes).
DAY 10: We’ll continue our exploration of Picos de Europa by hiking around Vega Urrielu (3rd night in Panes).
DAY 11: We’ll conclude our visit to Picos de Europa by touring the famous Covadonga Lakes (Lagos de Covadonga) in the morning and then continuing to Oviedo where we’ll enjoy an evening walking tour of the historic medieval town centre and a typical Asturian dinner at one of the most emblematic restaurants in the city (1 night in Oviedo).
DAY 12: Depart for Madrid. Conclusion of Experience Spain tour.
* Price tag: given that this itinerary requires three different modes of transportation: fast-speed train, private coach with a driver (to reach some of the more remote destinations) and internal flights (to reach the Canary Islands and then return to mainland Spain), its approximate cost is in the range of $5,000-$6,000 Euros, depending on: the price of fuel at the time of booking (this is particularly relevant with regards to the private coach); the price of train and plane tickets, which fluctuate from month to month, as well as the accommodation preferences that are communicated to us by the group.
